Tupperware citrus peeler colors1/9/2024 ![]() ![]() “Y-style peelers have always worked for me,” describes Gregory Diamond, a bartender at the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale. Material: Stainless steel | Color: Black | Dimensions (LxWxH): 5.63 x 2.75 x 0.75 inches | Dishwasher Safe: Yes The only thing we'd like to change, though, is the handle it can feel a little short. “With the citrus twist being such a ubiquitous and critical addition to so many cocktails, I really can’t overstate the importance of a reliable Y peeler behind the bar,” she says. She relies on OXO’s all-purpose blade and soft, cushioned handles to peel her oranges and lemons. “It was beautiful and costly, but they have a tendency to disappear from busy bar tops, and it was impossible to sharpen without being a smith!” “Of the multitudes of peelers I’ve tried and discarded or broken, I keep coming back to these little budget miracles!” Percival notes that she once had a higher-end chrome peeler. “I really can’t overstate the importance of a reliable peeler behind the bar, and the OXO Good Grips Y peeler is my workhorse peeler,” describes Joan Percival, a bartender at Proof Whiskey Bar and Craft Cocktails. Material: Stainless steel | Color: Green | Dimensions (LxWxH): 6.25 x 3 x 1 inches | Dishwasher Safe: Yes “Kuhn Rikon’s Y peelers provide perfectly straight, thin pithless citrus peels and offer lightweight maneuverability for a fraction of what bigger, clunkier, high-end peelers cost.” Ultimately, she likes this one a lot for several reasons. I buy a couple of these bad boys every year, and they last a long time and stay sharp (if they're not left in water)-it’s even worth it even if you did have to replace them annually (or more)," she says. "Remember, the blade will eventually get rusty, especially if it’s left sitting in water. They're also great because they're not terribly expensive and therefore can be easily replaced. Not to mention the fact that they're small, lightweight, and easily fit in any size hand and thus lessen the likelihood that you knick your knuckle when moving quickly.” They are inexpensive, and there’s minimal pith left when peeling citrus due to the shape and angle of the blade. Thanks Nick, the oranges are lovely and sweet and very juicy.“When it comes to peelers, the very inexpensive Kuhn Rikon Original Swiss Y-peelers are the best thing you can have behind your bar,” says Hartranft. Our friend Nick was kind enough to share a big bag of oranges with us the other day and I have been trying to get a few shots to show you the orange peeler in action but I have not been very successful. They work very well and if I could, I would send all of you one as a gift. It’s the strangest looking implement and I will not be without the two that live in my third drawer in the kitchen. □Īnyhoo, one of the most nifty little gadgets that Tupperware make is an orange peeler. Most of the cupboards in our home have Tupperware in them, storing all sorts and keeping things neat and tidy – I do draw the line at the garage though as Pete happily drains engine oil and the likes into them so we save ice cream containers for that. ![]() I wonder if there is a Tupperware support group for people like me? I have to resist the urge buying more and a good motivator is it has got frightfully expensive. It is safe to say I LOVE Tupperware and probably own enough for 2 families with a few spares on the side. ![]()
